Documentation

Everything the workspace can do, written down. Search the sections or link straight to the paragraph you need.

Getting started

Install the workspace, learn the layout and run your first tool.

Install the workspace

AutoDocify runs entirely in the browser — installation is optional but recommended.

Open the app once with a network connection. The WebAssembly bundles are cached on first load, after which every tool keeps working offline.

Use your browser's install prompt to add AutoDocify to the dock or start menu. Installed windows get file-type associations, so double-clicking a PDF can open it directly in the workspace.

Workspace tour

Three panes: the tool rail, the document canvas and the inspector.

The left rail groups all 133 tools by task — pages, content, security, convert and automate. Press / to jump straight into tool search.

The canvas renders pages progressively so large files stay responsive. The inspector on the right exposes the options for whichever tool is active, plus an undo history that survives page reloads.

Your first operation

Drop a file, pick a tool, export. Nothing leaves the device.

Drag a document anywhere onto the canvas. AutoDocify detects the type and enables the tools that apply to it.

Every operation writes to a local scratch buffer; the original file on disk is untouched until you explicitly export.

Privacy and security

What client-side processing guarantees, and how to verify it.

How client-side processing works

Documents are decoded, transformed and re-encoded inside the browser sandbox.

The processing engines are compiled to WebAssembly and executed in dedicated workers. They receive an ArrayBuffer from the page and return one — there is no network transport in the pipeline.

You can confirm this yourself: open the network panel, run any tool and watch that no request is issued. Disconnecting entirely after load is the strongest check.

Real redaction versus black boxes

Drawing a rectangle hides pixels; it does not remove the underlying text.

AutoDocify's redaction tool deletes the content stream operators for the selected region and rewrites the page, then strips the associated entries from the document's text index.

Metadata, embedded thumbnails, attachments and incremental-update history are cleared in the same pass, so exported files carry no recoverable trace.

Passwords and encryption

Open, decrypt and re-encrypt protected documents without a round trip.

Both RC4 and AES-256 encrypted documents are supported. Passwords are held in worker memory only and are discarded when the tab closes.

When exporting you can set owner and user passwords independently, along with permission flags for printing, copying and annotation.

Automation

Workflow presets, batch runs and keyboard-first operation.

Workflow presets

Chain tools into a single reusable operation.

Any sequence of tools can be recorded as a preset. Presets store options, not documents, so they are safe to export and share with a team.

Presets sync across devices when you sign in; the documents they run against always stay local.

Batch processing

Apply a preset to an entire folder in one pass.

Grant folder access once and AutoDocify streams files through the preset, writing results beside the originals or into an output directory you choose.

Progress is per-file and resumable — closing the tab mid-run leaves already-processed files intact.

Keyboard shortcuts

Every tool is reachable without a pointer.

Press / for tool search, g then p for the pages view, and ⌘/Ctrl+Z for undo across the whole session history.

Within the canvas, arrow keys move the page selection, Space toggles it and Enter opens the inspector for the active tool.

Reference

Formats, limits and troubleshooting.

Supported formats

PDF first, with common office and image formats around it.

Read and write: PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG, WebP and TIFF. Read-only import: DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, RTF, HTML and Markdown.

OCR covers 100+ languages and can be constrained per-region to keep large scans fast.

Limits and performance

Your device memory is the only quota.

Documents of several hundred megabytes are comfortable on a modern laptop. Pages are decoded lazily, so time-to-first-page stays flat as files grow.

If a run stalls, lower the render resolution in the inspector or split the document — both reduce peak memory sharply.

Troubleshooting

The three issues that account for most support requests.

Blank pages after import usually mean a non-embedded font; enable font substitution in the inspector to render with a metric-compatible fallback.

If tools appear disabled, the document is likely encrypted — unlock it first. If the workspace fails to load offline, clear the site cache once and reload with a connection.
